James Blake - Forehand Return PDF Print E-mail

There are two shots that separate good players from great players and they are the service and the return. Some belive that both put together in the course of a match, represent about 60 percent of the overall value of winning and losing.

Even if those figures might seem hyper inflated to you, do not disregard the importance of these two shots!

A good tennis service return of service has the following elements:

1. Player is close to the baseline or inside.
2. Relaxation (no apparent tension until action starts).
3. Eye focus on the ball toss.
4. Split step (at servers hit or just before ball contact).
5. Excellent reactivity (reaction time before action after split step).
6. Short back swing (how far the racket is taken back, usually no further than your side without rotation of the shoulders).
7. Step into the ball, impact and short follow through.

Like Andre Agassi, James Blake has excellent, eyes, reactivity and acceleration, which makes him a formidable service returner.

James Blake is a seasoned pro follow his return tennis video lessons, he is one of the best at it.

Customer Review: Not essential unless you love tennis
Not the greatest quality wise but pretty much a by the books recap of one of the greatest tennis matches in history. one of the first i ever saw & been addicted to tennis ever since
Customer Review: Great match up
Most of the time they talk about the great rivalry with Sampras and Agassi. But when Agassi played Rafter it was fun to watch as well. This match goes five sets and is and excellent example of strategy in tennis.
