Roland Garros Tennis Lessons - Jo-Wilfried Tsonga - The Backhand Volley!

Serve and volleyers and attackers do not leave anything to chance Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in this backhand volley sequence demonstrates it with very high marks.

Jo-Wilfried sees an opportunity to attack and seizes it immediately by moving expeditiously to the net.

What does he do that is much better then just very good?

- Body speed and leg acceleration towards the point of impact.

- Times the split step (very wide and strong) in sync with his opponents ball strike.

- Takes a very short backswing.

- Even though the ball is struck at knee level, keeps upper body straight up.

- Keeps his head looking forwards to see opponents moves and to place the ball where he wants to.

- At contact gives the ball just enough under-spin without losing punch.

- Steps in and through the ball with a leaping step perfectly timed with contact.

- Continues is forward motion followed by a split step just in case his opponent reaches his volley.

This and the many other high level stroke executions Jo-Wilfried Tsonga  has demonstrated show me that he is a very dedicated individual, who is willing to work very hard to develop his game in areas that a great majority of tennis players prefer to stay away from so challenging is the task!

Nevertheless, in my mind mind anyone can serve and volley or volley at any level any age, it only takes a little work and dedication, why not start today?
