What happened in the French Open on Tuesday?

Two Americans do battle Robby Ginepri vs. Sam Querrey
Game set and Match Ginepri  4/6 7/6
(3) 6/4 6/2
When draws like this happen, this is one of the things which goes through the players minds, 'we might as well have stayed home and played each other in our backyards!'.
Looking at it from another perspective is, at least one of them will get through to the next round, it would be a lot worst if each had to play one of those sticky Spanish players and both lost!.
Anyway, the faster, more experienced, stronger and fitter player, won. My advise to Querry is, go hit the track and field and do plenty of resistance and speed work, you are as slow as Napoleon my pet turtle.

Justine Henin vs. Tsvetana Pironkova
Game, set and Match Henin 6-4 6-3
No wonder the stadiums are empty during women only tournaments! There is only one Justine Henin and the rest no one bothers watching.

If you appreciate women's tennis played with all of its variations, serve and volley, attack, power, intelligence, touch and often with more courage then the men counter parts, you have to appreciate the little woman from Belgium!

In the end the result is irrelevant, you have enjoyed true tennis!

Now if Hewitt can give me nightmares, the rest of women's tennis gives me an altered state of consciousness which puts me in a cataleptic fit, so I have to be careful with my health and watch a women's match every three to six month! (No kidding my Doctor can vouch to it! :-)

Gianni Mina vs. Rafael Nadal
Game, set and Match Nadal  6/2  6/2 6/2
Gianni Mina a new name, the new kid on the block a breath of fresh air for tennis. Sure Mina is special, sure he had Nadal struggling, sure he had 9 break points and sure he converted none!

Gianni is a likeable player with a raw game that will be developed in time, but what amazes me is how teachers can destroy talent!

If you watched the match all you got to do is close your eyes a see this young man playing the backhand one handed, serving and volleying a lot more often, playing more inside the court attacking every short ball of Nadal...hum...instead we saw raw talent playing double handed robotic tennis, one or two serve and volleys (God forbid that the kid won the points if he did not he would probably get another extra 40 hours of baseline correctional training!).

All in all another talent that will be converted into a baseline robot! Shame, shame!

Lleyton Hewitt vs. Jeremy Chardy

Game, set and Match Hewitt
7-5 6-0 6-4
Jeremy Chardy another French player with the perfect physic to be highly effective at the net and instead he plays right into the hands of a desert rat like Hewitt! Of course Hewitt has merit, but, I have nightmares after I watch him play!

For me tennis needs the Chardys of this world to fulfill their potential by serving and volleying more, by attacking more with effective approaches, by varying their strokes in general and by believing more in themselves!

Hewitt's we have enough of those, and if you are a fan of boring baseline tennis please help yourself to a tape of Chris Evert
!

Andy Roddick  vs. Jarkko Nieminen
Game, set and Match Roddick   6-2 4-6 6-4 7-6
(4) 6-3
What can I say about Roddick all that coaching for nothing! Benhabiles, Gilbert, the agent, his brother, Stefansky and in the end Andy continues to hit the ball four meters behind the baseline! Do not ask me, why!?!

Well plenty more but, I still only have two eyes and continue to finger peck this keyboard! :-)
