The wednesday Roland Garros ticker! What happened in the French Open yesterday? Svetlana Kuznetsova vs. Andrea Petkovic Game, set and Match Kuznetsova 4/6 7/5 6/4 All right I watch more then one women's match every 3 or 6 months! Oh Petkovic! If I remember barely 2 or 3 weeks ago I saw this girl walking out of the court in tears after a brave match. What happened to learning from your defeats? For goodness sake someone please teach Andrea variation, drop shot included so that she will stop crying and she will be smiling all the way to the bank! F.Fognini vs. G.Monfils Game, set and Match ??? 2/6 4/6 7/5 6-4 5/5 Could be writing game set and match Monfils instead, Gail is the in the usual saga of slippering and sliding tennis with no other goal but either 'hope' for a mistake from his opponent or somehow trap him into some elaborate point scheme that often can go either way! As the saying goes 'you get what you asked for', 5sets instead of 3! C.Wozniacki vs. T.Garbin Game set and Match Wozniacki 6-3 6-1 The dilemma I have with Caroline is, 'am I watching a down version of Lleyton Hewitt, or is this a nightmare?'. O.K. the girl is fine she even can get the other girls all confused and beat them, one thing though she needs to change that dress for something that at least looks like it was in the laundry! With the kind of money these girls command, spending a few bucks for laundry and good appearance is a must! Oh, the tennis! Garbin was just no match. Maria Kirilenko vs. Yvonne Meusburger Game, set and Match Kirilenko 6/3 6/3 Of the meek lean Maria there is no shadow! The 'new' Maria is a beefed-up version with solid muscles and a more convincing tennis. Nevertheless the mental frailty that has befallen her over and over against worthier opponents, is still there, Yvonne was not up to the task! Robin Soderling vs. Taylor Dent Game, set and Match Soderling 6-0 6-1 6-1 Come on! Taylor Dent did a bunch of things right inclusive the tactical use of an excellent backhand slice but when he had the cake and could eat it too he missed big time on the execution of the winning forehand. Even though Dent has lost weight in comparison to past seasons he still is grossly over-weight. Taylor, needs to keep off the burgers, I sympathize with him I try too but I can't! The only difference is he is a professional player and I am a couch potato! Soderling did his job, but I get the feeling this 'great change' of putting more topspin on his forehand has taken away his greatest weapon the forehand winner! Aravane Rezai vs. Angelique Kerber Game, set and Match Rezai 6-2 2-6 6-3 Even though Aravane is coming from the biggest tournament win of her life, her troubles and tribulations are far from over! Her all out take no prisioners type game is responsible for it, but on the other hand it is also responsible for her stellar wins! Tough act to balance and the minimal lack of concentration there goes a set like it happened yesterday. As she matures she will learn that once in a while we can give our opponents the opportunity to make mistakes and we do not have to do everything, e.g.. 'the winning and the losing!' Well plenty more but, my two eyes are now crossed from following tennis balls and I still continue to finger peck this keyboard! :-) Sergio Cruz
