What happened in the French Open yesterday? Svetlana Kuznetsova vs. Maria Kirilenko Game, set and Match Kirilenko 6-3 2-6 6-4 Even on the Roland Garros official website it reads; 'A fabulous result for Kirilenko who is developing quite a reputation for causing Grand Slam spill-overs this season.' Just hate to say, I told you so a couple of days ago! :-) 'Of the meek lean Maria there is no shadow! The 'new' Maria is a beefed-up version with solid muscles and a more convincing tennis.' Even the usually aloof officials recon something about Maria is different this season, as if this is not going on for years both on the WTA and ATP tours!? Anyway I am not going to speculate on what it is and just keep on pecking at my keyboard! One thing I must say though; how can women insist on the same prize money as men? When the title holder Svetlana (grossly overweight) was extended to two 3 set matches and was cramping up yesterday at the end. So if the top women can not hold the brunt of 3 sets, how can they expect the same prize money as the men who are playing 5 set matches? This thing of the Grand Slams being politically right and sportingly wrong should be reviewed. Five sets for all and equal prize money is o.k.. Any other way is a disservice to both women and men. Rafael Nadal vs. Horacio Zeballos Game, set and Match Nadal 6-2 6-2 6-3 If there are any experts with doubts about Nadal's form, Hewitt is certainly not one of them! Could almost bet this morning Hewitt told his coach that he had this incredible nightmare all night of playing the 'Incredible Hulk' and when he woke up all washed up in sweat, he realized it was Nadal! As the Germans say 'Toi, toi, toi' (best of luck) Lleyton! Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs. Thiemo De Bakker Game set and Match Tsonga 6-7 7-6 6-3 6-4 Oh Jo-Wilfred! What happened to your serve and volley that so much excited everyone at the Australian open a couple of years ago!? Of course you are in royal trouble, with your size and running around the baseline like a butterfly in the lavender fields, what else could you expect? To ever make it at grand slam level you have to dictate from beginning to end, you win and you lose them, but you can not be bullied into running all over the place! Another solution is: With your awesome weaponry, do just like the master of ceremonies (Roger Federer) does, hold onto your serve at all times and play mediocre on the other players serve (and make them work for every game) until it matters, than pour it on all out to get the break! Anyway does Jo-Wilfried Tsonga have much left for the next match? I doubt it! Thiemo De Bakker get on the track and field and gym and get fit, you can win Wimbledon one day! Novak Djokovic vs. Kei Nishikori Game set and Match Djokovic 6-1 6-4 6-4 A bit like watching two souped up versions of Chris Evert clones. Very similar games and the one with the most experience and who took the important points won. As I said before from the serve and volley skills Novak would learn from Tod Martin not a shadow! :-( Well plenty more but, I am still trying to get my eyes straight from the match Aravane Rezai vs. Nadia Petrova! :-) Sergio Cruz
