Who will win the tennis match for the ages? The battle everyone feared one day would happen, is just reaching its climax today!...will it end? Do we really want it to end? It all started as innocuous as any tennis encounter we have been accustomed to in five set matches through the years. Two players trading sets followed by a couple of tie-breakers on Tuesday, where hostilities were stopped due to lack of light. Nevertheless, the 3rd and 4th set tiebreakers 7-6(9-7) 6-7(3-7) were the harbinger of a titanic battle everyone would be about to witness on Wednesday on the 5th set! Achilles, Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan , Attila the Hun and a bunch of other mythical and historical figures together did not throw as many fatal blows to their enemies in one day as Nicolas Mahut and John Isner did yesterday at each other! There were no truces, there was no discussion about peace treaties, no white flags were waved, no towels were throw in, there was no time to leak wounds or patch up the relations of yesterday, just battle! Your will against mine! Your best serve against my best return! Your best volley against my best passing! Your best forehand against my best backhand! Your best running against mine! Your best defense against my best attack! Your stamina against my resolve! After 10 hours of lethal tennis, both exhausted, deeply wounded, but proud left the dimly lit court with their heads standing tall at 59-59 in the fifth set! Will we ever pay true tribute to this epic struggle or will it be forgotten amidst a myriad of record book pages that only the fanatics read? Or... When and if this clash of colossus is over, the Wimbledon gates will be graced with two statues, Rhodes Colossus style, Nicolas Mahut on one side and John Isner on the other! Today, Wimbledon will start all over again for Nicolas Mahut and John Isner at 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(9-7) 6-7(3-7), 59-59. MATCH STATISTICS
