Isner won the tennis match for the ages!

It took  11 hours and five minutes for John Isner to be declared the winner of the sport's colossal battle which translated into the mythical numbers of  6-4, 3-6, 6-7 (7-9), 7-6 (7-3), 70-68 for a grand toal 183 games!

The gargantuan match statistics tell you the size of the battle in a way no words can:

Match duration: 11 hours, five minutes
Fifth set duration: Eight hours, 11 minutes
Total number of games: 183
Fifth set number of games: 138
Total number of points: 980
Isner aces: 112
Mahut aces: 103
Combined aces: 215
Isner winners: 246
Mahut winners: 244

To say that there was only one winner in this riviting match it would be unfair to Nicolas Mahut who deserved as much as Isner to be the winner.  Nevertheless tennis like all sports is unforgiving and there must be a winner and John Isner was it!

Now, it is up to the All England Tennis Club to make up their minds to give these young men an extra 25 £ (pound) a bowl full of strawberies and British cream for their efforts or change the Wimbledon gates to be graced with two statues, Rhodes Colossus style, Nicolas Mahut on one side and John Isner on the other!
