Tennis instruction: Roger Federer - Tennis Backhand Slice Approach PDF Print E-mail

Tennis instruction: Rule #1 of the Approach Shot, No matter how fast your opponent is,  he can only strike a ball  after the ball has bounced

Rule #2 , Do not try to hit a winner! Hit the ball deep, with medium pace and some under spin (slice) to give you time to reach the net in good position

Rule #3 , Follow the trajectory of the ball until your split step

Rule #4 , While the ball is in flight, you move in quickly and as close to the net as possible for the ensuing volley

Roger FedererRoger Federer respects all of these rules "all the time"  that is why it looks like his opponents play the ball to him, they have no other choice!
